THE NEW EVANGELIZATION
CHRISTOPHER WHITE: Advocates for Christians in the Middle East are calling for an overhaul of the way humanitarian aid is distributed by western governments and international agencies to those on the frontlines of persecution.
VATICAN NEWS: Pope Francis, with a Rescriptum published by the Vatican Press Office on Thursday, has extended the jurisdiction of the Eastern Catholic Patriarchs over the entire Arabian Peninsula.
VATICAN NEWS: Currently, in the Near and Middle East, countries close to the Persian Gulf such as Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran exercise their jurisdiction.
JOHN L. ALLEN JUNIOR: Catholics might want to be listening to what Catholic leaders in the neighborhood are saying.

The Holy Father, in his post~synodal exhortation, will give us basic orientations. Now the specific, concrete implementation would have to be done on the local level.
ASHER INTRATER: Moses' blessing states that we will dip our foot in oil. This also refers to an agricultural blessing in ancient times, but again we see the spiritual dimensions. Oil, of course, represents the anointing. When it says our feet will be dipped in oil, I take that to mean we can be anointed of the Holy Spirit in whatever place or location that might be.
Moses said that Asher's shoes would be of iron. In context, this refers to precious mineral oil being found in the hills of the tribe of Asher. However, spiritually we also find a blessing connected to the gospel. It says here that his shoes would be blessed. This is similar to the statement of Paul in Ephesians 6:15 that our shoes would be ready to go and preach the gospel.
The word for iron here is barzel, which also has the spiritual meaning of being firm, resolute and iron-willed. The blessing is that we will be like iron going forth to evangelize.
The word for shoe is na'al which is the same root as the word to lock. It is used figuratively to lock onto something, such as locking onto a goal or a target. We become locked on and focused on sharing the gospel.
Evangelization no longer entails peer~to~peer or teacher~to~student transmission. The New Evangelization inspires Holistic soul~searching. 💻🖥️📱
